ESKICI MEHMED DEDE SOUP KITCHEN

ESKİCİ MEHMET DEDE AŞEVİ 

Aşevi adını doğu yönünde yer alan Eskici Mehmet Dede'ye ait olduğu bilinen mezardan almaktadır. Yapılış tarihi kaynaklarda kesin bir bilgi bulunmamakla beraber, bir yapılar bütünün parçası olduğu ve sosyal amaçlı (aşevi) kullanıldığı görüşü hakimdir. Eskici Mehmed Dede Aşevi iki farklı yapıdan oluşmaktadır. Anıtsal özellikte ilk yapı, kare planlı olup kubbe ile örtülür Diğer yapı ise, yanında bulunan iki katlı sivil mimari örneği yapıdır. Bu yapı, aslına uygun olarak inşa edilerek aşevi işlevine sonradan dahil edilmiştir. Osmangazi Belediyesi tarafından hor iki yapımında 2008 yılında restorasyonu gerçekleştirilmiştir. Günümüzde aşevi olarak hizmet vermektedir. Eskici Mehmed Dede'nin şu an ki mezarının eskiden bir türbe içerisinde olduğu, ancak çeşitli sebeplerle türbenin yıkıldığı bilinmektedir. Tarihi kayıtlarda Eskici Mehmed Dede'nin, Üftade Hazretlerinin müridlerinden olduğu ve Aziz Mahmud Hüdai'nin hidayete ermesine vesile olduğundan bahsedilmektedir Mehmed Dede'nin bazen Bedesten'de ticaretle uğraştığı bazen de eskicilik mesleğini yaptığı söylenir.

ESKICI MEHMED DEDE SOUP KITCHEN

This soup kitchen is named after a tomb located is eastern direction, which is known to be the tomb of Eskidji Mehmed Dede. Both the date of construction and the name of its sponsor are unknown. Although historical sources do not give exact information about the function of this structure, the prevailing opinion is that it was a part of a complex comprising several sturucteres and that it was used for a social purpöse (soup kitchen). The ''Eskidji Mehmed Dede'' Soup Kitchen consist of two different structures; one of them has a monument character. İt is built with a square plan, and covered with a dome. The other one right at its side is a two-floored structure representing civil architecture. This structure was built according to the otginal plans, and integrated later into a soup kitchen's function. Both structures were restored by Osmangazi Mucipality in 2008. Today, there are rendering service as a soup kitchen. It ıs known that the current tomb of Eskidji Mehmed Dede formerly was located inside a mousoleum, but that this mausoleum collapsed for various reasons. Historical records mention that he was one of the disciples of his Excellency Uftade, and that he guided Saint Mahmud Hudai in finding the right way. It ıs told that Mehmed Dede sometimes was busy with trade int the bedesten (the covered market) and sometimes working as a junk dealer.
